I recently read a New York Times book review on the book "We Have Met the Enemy" "Self Control in an Age of Excess" by Daniel Akst.   The thesis of the book is that the best manner in which to get people to look past short-term rewards is through "precommitment."  Precommitment essentially involves the use of voluntary and involuntary constraints to overcome lapses in will power.  For me, blogging is an event that I've found every excuse to avoid for any number of reasons. As such, the failure to blog is my "short term reward." I'm going to take the book's advice and find try and finds ways to circumvent my lack of will power.  As a preliminary start, I've set up an email reminder to alert me that it's time for an entry in the blog.  And, by stating this publically on the blog, I hope it helps to work to motivate me to continue blogging.  Time will tell.
